Trying to write a play now specifically for the fringe (while writing a novel as well http://szymkowicznaked.blogspot.com ) Has anyone else ever written something specifically for the fringe? i feel like I'm fringing it up over here but I hope that will work out OK.

I haven't, but Mac Rogers has for this two Fringe outings (FLEET WEEK: The Musical and Air Guitar). He's said he and his colaborators specifically wrote FLEET WEEK as a semi-parody of the play that the Fringe would eat up. It turned out to be the toast of the Fringe in '05; go figure.
How do you define the 'Fringe' in your context. How would this change your approach to writing any other play? Personally I have been involved in some site-specific projects where I adapted my writing for the location, this was of course not in a mainstream theatre and therefore I suppose you could call it fringe writing...but it no way does that have a diminutive connotation in my mind.
Hi Andrew, In this case I'm talking specifically about the New York Fringe Festival that happens in Aug. I'm writing it for a specific actress and with a couple other actors in mind knowing that if accepted, it will be performed in a less than ideal space (probably) and that it will only have 5 performances. So somehow all that is becoming part of the play.
