ah. she does have an incredible ability to capture incredible human traits at particularly odd moments. if you're inclined, you should definitely check out Music for Torching, and even the short story collection Safety of Objects (one of the stories was the basis for Music...).
i was just disappointed in this release, and didn't think that it showed any evolution to what she had done before. almost formulaic.

i'm a big A.M. Homes fan and thought it was poo. my favorite of hers is Music for Torching.
I don't know her other work. It was so human. It was funny and touching and I loved the world.

I had a boss, Stuart Brent, who used to say to people about a book called "THE SEVEN STAIRS", "This book will save your life! BUY IT!"
Of course, he was the author.
But I don't think it was an overpromise. After reading it myself, I'm pretty sure it saved a lot of lives.
And, of course, it was all TRUE.
You know what will save your life? Deflowering Waldo... http://www.dramatists.com/cgi-bin/db/single.asp?key=3728
And it's all true.
