oh, cool. I was trying to balance but I hadn't actually counted. I'm sure it won't stay that way. The world is imperfect, but I'm going to try and keep it fairly even.
It's not easy, actually. I probably know more male playwrights than female playwrights and I definitely know more male playwrights with work up. I can do interviews that aren't plugging anything I guess, but I'm eventually going to have more men than women unless I put in quite a bit of effort.
On the other hand, I think I'll only be able to do this so long, so it's likely I'll run out of steam before I run out of people.
Well, when you run out of playwrights you know, it's then time to start interviewing the playwrights you don't know. I'm sure you could finagle an interview with Edward Albee and Marsha Norman in the not-too-distant future.
I thought it was interesting and pretty accurate that they found the male playwrights getting their work out more frequently. The female writers I know seem to work on their pieces for a long time- constantly refining and revising. The male writers I know get it down and get it out.
